Miss International 2010 is Ashley Smith

Ashley Smith, 26, was recently crowned Miss International 2010. The pageant took place July 24 in Skokie, Ill.
The pageant featured nearly 40 contestants competing in four categories, including interview, fitness-wear, fun fashion and evening gown.
In keeping with International Pageants’ platform-focus and dedication to highlighting young women’s accomplishment through community support, Smith – a 2002 graduate of Carroll High School - will spend her year as Miss International 2010 supporting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. As part of her work, she will travel to college campuses around the national with the On-the-Go program that teaches young women the importance of early detection.

“Both my mother and grandmother have had breast cancer. My grandmother passed away a few years after her diagnosis, but I’m delighted to say my mom is a 16-year survivor,” said Smith. “Breast cancer awareness is a very personal cause for me and in my new role as Miss International, I’ll be able to reach so many more young women and spread the message about the importance of early detection.”

Smith graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and recently completed law school at the University of Houston Law Center. She currently consults as a marketing and event planner and was an NBA Houston Rockets Power Dancer for the 2009-2010 season. In addition to supporting her platform, she also volunteers for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and numerous local organizations, and will work with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement, for which International Pageants, Inc. has a national alliance.

The Miss International Pageant is the only platform- based system and is owned and operated by International Pageants, Inc., which also operates the Miss Teen and Mrs. International competitions. Miss International showcases single women ages 19 to 29. For information, visit
