Laura then traveled to Washington, D.C. where she participated in the National Memorial Day Parade.   Laura rode atop the USA Cares float with one of our proud veterans, Bryan Anderson, and sang "God Bless America." Before the parade, Laura sang "God Bless the USA" during the pre-show event. Following the event, she celebrated this special day with Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund and Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2012 Elizabeth Fechtel.

Yesterday, Laura met with Miss America 1985 Sharlene Wells Hawkes and was introduced to the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. James A. Winnefeld, Jr. at the Pentagon along with Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2012 Elizabeth Fechtel and representatives from the Wounded Warriors Project before leaving the Nation’s Capitol.

Miss America continues her commitment to the military as she travels to California for the annual U.S. Army Ball this week.
