Ecuador wins Miss United Continents 2013

Host contestant Miss Ecuador (Carolina Aguirre) was crowned the very first Miss United Continents during a gala held at the Crystal Palace in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on September 14th.
Aguirre, Miss Ecuador 2012 and who represented her country at the Miss Universe pageant last year in Vegas, won the crown and sash after being chosen by a jury which included CNN’s own Maria Mercedes Soler, Valeska Saab (Miss World Ecuador 2007), Colombian designer Hernan Zajar, among others.
The 1st runner-up or “Virreina” was Miss India, Purva Rana (22).  Completing the finalists were Chile (Maria Belen Jerez, 3rd place); Belgium (Sherine Dandoy, 4th place); Uruguay (Camila Vezzoso, 5th place), and Panama (Maria Gabrielle Sealy, 6th place).
Contestants from Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Australia and Colombia completed the top 10.
The event, previously named Miss Continente Americano, was born in 2006. It now welcomes participants from all over the globe.
